"But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons." -Galatians 4:4-5

The Shoes

Ephesians 6:15 "...and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace."

In battle, I can imagine that a soldier would have to stand pretty sound on the ground. Though I've not been in the thick of war, I bet standing with calm and steady feet is a very important part of being a legit soldier.

It's the same way in our spiritual battle. If we can learn to stand with peace and confidence in the middle of life's trouble, imagine the witness we can have on people. The mental picture that comes to my mind is a person standing in a desert with his eyes looking to Heaven and his arms raised to the sky. All the while there is a huge and mighty wind blowing towards him. Things are flying past him and nearly hitting him, but he doesn't pay attention. He just focuses on what needs to be focused on and has faith that God will bring him through the storm.

So clothe yourself in the peace that is offered in God's word. He is our refuge and place of steadfast peace.
